SMS is a short messaging service (each message limited 160 characters) and is ideal for delivering Short marketing messages to Opt In subscribers.  SMS messages have a very high read rate (over 80%) due the lack of spam and short nature of the message.  The other major advantage is that they are actioned very quickly.

Recent Case Study: Leading Melbourne IT Services Company

In January 2007, Mdigital Direct was approached by a leading IT services company to assist with an SMS campaign targeted at existing contacts up-selling.  As part of its traditional quarterly contacts follow-up, the company had previously employed telemarketing, and direct mail selling techniques.  On one occasion mass-email had been used with a very poor uptake (contacts simply failed to read the email).  In this scenario the company deals largely with SME’s, and had mobile phone contacts for a large percentage.
